Stephan A. Hoeller è nato a Budapest nel 1931 e vive in California. Professore di religione comparata al College of Oriental Studies di Los Angeles, è studioso di gnosticismo e psicologia junghiana, pesidente della Gnostic Society di Los Angeles e patriarca dell'Ecclesia Gnostica, una delle due chiese neo gnostiche anglosassoni.
